EPSL Educational Printing teamed up with The Mall Blackburn to donate a whole host of books to a local school.
To celebrate World Book Day the shopping centre launched an online competition calling for people from Lancashire to nominate a worthy cause to receive a mini library and EPSL Educational Printing offered a range of its EPSL EPrint Publishing titles as part of the prize.
Parents and teachers from The Redeemer C of E School in Blackburn cast their votes and were selected at random from thousands of entries.
Laura Diffey, Marketing Manager at The Mall Blackburn, and Matt Simmons from EPSL Educational Printing, delivered the books personally in a special awards assembly.
Laura said: “Word Book Day is a great time to celebrate the importance of reading and we were delighted when EPSL Educational Printing offered to partner with us on this competition by donating a selection of books.
“It was wonderful to be part of the awards assembly and hand the books directly to the children who will be benefitting from them.”
Matt added: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with The Mall on this competition and we were blown away with the number of entries.
“We donated a range of reading books from our EPSL EPrint Publishing range including books aimed at reluctant readers and I hope the children get a lot of use out of them.”
Laura Butterworth, who is the Reading and Phonics Coordinator and year three teacher at The Redeemer School, said: “The number of parents that voted for The Redeemer is testament to the fabulous community we have here in school.
“We like to encourage a love of reading and our library area is very popular with children from reception to year six! These new books are brilliant and I can’t wait to hear the feedback from our pupils.
The prize was made up of books donated from EPSL Educational Printing’s published titles and books purchased by The Mall Blackburn.
