The top 3 engaging Christmas classroom activities

The Christmas countdown starts now. Here at EPSL, there’s no doubt in our minds that the pupils in your classroom will be steadily getting more and more excited as the days go by, which can make teaching anything a bit of a struggle if truth be told! However, there are a few ways you can make the excitement work in your favour. Christmas offers an amazing opportunity for you to craft fun and engaging learning experiences for your students.

So, to help point you in the right direction, we’ve put together our list of the top three engaging Christmas themed activities that we’re sure will go down a treat with your pupils.

The top 3 engaging Christmas classroom activities

Christmas across the globe

Christmas is a holiday that’s celebrated right around the world, so it’s a great opportunity for you to teach your pupils about the different ways in which other cultures engage with the Christmas tradition. For example, why not try working a Christmas exploration into your next geography lesson by putting your class into groups and tasking them with finding out how a specific country celebrates Christmas?

Christ-maths activities

Maths is notorious for being a subject that school pupils famously find difficult to engage with, so by putting a Christmassy spin on your maths lessons, your students might find the lesson a little bit more digestible! One idea would be to create a Christmas present themed maths challenge, where you place some small, wrapped gifts around your classroom, each one with a maths problem on them, and your students can only open the gift if they figure out the problem. This is a great option because it provides your pupils with a tangible reward for solving the problem, which motivates them to put the effort in to solve it.

Christmas card writing

We’d highly recommend this classic Christmas activity within the classroom, as it encourages giving and kindness, as well as offering your pupils the opportunity to show off their handwriting skills. It’s the perfect way to bring some festive cheer to your English lessons, and if you wanted to get even more creative, you could order some blank cards and encourage your pupils to design their very own Christmas cards. That way, they can create a personalised card for whoever they like.

These are just a few ideas to get your Christmas lesson plan underway – you might already have plenty of plans of your own! Whatever you’ve got in mind, here at EPSL we’re committed to providing our customers with reliable learning resources all year round. So whether you need some school exercise books to help your students deal with the Christmas workload, or you simply require some extra supplementary reading materials, homework diaries or personalised exercise books to set you up for the new year, you’re in the right place.
