Spell Write Right
Author: Mike Fligg

Availability: In stock

An ideal resource to aid spelling.

Spell Right has been created by the author after a thorough field-study of spelling errors in a range of both Key Stage 3 and 4 exercise books, where the frequency and pattern of pupils' errors were recorded.

About three quarters of the words listed in the booklet are those that pupils themselves had difficulty in spelling, while most of the others are words that, in some way or another, have caused difficulty or confusion in pupils' reading and writing.

This booklet works on the premise that pupils who experience difficulty in spelling should learn the spellings of 'irregular' words only once they understand those that do appear to follow the 'rules'.

The booklet offers the spellings in clear lists and seeks to engage pupils actively in determing rules and in seeing how certain words appear to disobey particular rules. The book includes its own mini-dictionary, as well as advice on how to keep a spelling log of key words in subjects other than English and how to keep a wary eye out for variant or American spellings.

Suitable for 9 years to adult. Ideal for teachers and pupils.
