Product informationExplorers and Travellers looks at many of the key figures that feature prominently in National Curriculum History and Geography. Each chapter opens with biographical information and how they link to the historical and geographical themes that need to be covered. This section has been written for pupils to read and could be used as part of an English lesson. The main part of each chapter describes a range of practical activities for pupils to carry out. These are outlined under four headings: problem solving, investigation, research and construction. While the accent is on History and Geography, these tasks are cross-curricular in nature, including elements of English, Maths, Science, Design/Technology, and Art and Craft. Each chapter incorporates photocopiable sheets to support the activities. Throughout the book, pupils are encouraged to become agents in their own learning and to record their findings. Ways are also suggested in which the local environment and field studies can be used to provide resources and stimulate learning.
