Porky Pies

Author: Suzi Cresswell

Porky Pies

Jaz was bullied at his old school, so when he joins a new school he's determined things are going to be better. But he has a bad habit - he can't stop telling little white lies.

When Jaz tells his new classmates that he's the son of pop star Rocky Riff, they're impressed. Nelson wants to meet him, Aisha turns out to be his greatest fan and Clint demands proof. He wants a signed CD, one of Rocky's stage jackets and a performance at school. Even the teachers try to get in on the act!

Jaz finds himself in big trouble and the only way out seems to be to stop telling porky pies...

Suitable for 8-12 year olds reading age 8.

A wonderful, fun packed story. We can all relate to the hero, Jason Ford's situation, where bullied in his previous school he decides to stretch the truth a bit in his new school. However, one little white lie turns into something much bigger and complex. Lovely characterisation and humour from the author of 'The Mum Manager' which is sure to bit a huge hit with this tricky audience and sustain children's interest right to the last paragraph.
